Deborah Cox put on a dazzling display in an eye-catching ensemble as she led stars during  opening night of The Wiz on Broadway in New York City on Wednesday. 

The We Can't Be Friends singer, 49 - who previously attended the musical's glitzy opening in Los Angeles back in February - joined other celebrities and cast members at the Marquis Theatre where the festivities were held. 

The performer flaunted her toned figure in a sleeveless, semi-sheer dress that contained sparkling, silver sequin details on the fabric. 

The glittering material fell onto the ground and flowed into a long train behind the star. A bow embellishment could also be seen on the back of the gown for a stylish flare. 

Cox slipped into a pair of closed-toed, shimmering gray heels to coincide with the color scheme of her ensemble for the big night.

Deborah - who took on the role of Glinda in the musical - opted for minimal accessories to allow her outfit to be the main focal point, and added a pair of silver earrings. 

Her makeup was glammed up, and comprised of voluminous lashes as well as a smoky shadow around her eyes. 

A warm blush was added to better accentuate her cheekbones, while a nude-colored, satin tint was worn on her lips for a finishing touch. 

Cox was seen striking a variety of poses upon arriving to the venue, and soon crossed paths with her co-star Wayne Brady, who portrayed The Wiz. 

The pair flashed cheerful smiles as they posed for a few snaps together, with Brady also dressing to impress. 

He donned a classic black suit but chose to not wear a shirt underneath. Wayne additionally wore a fuzzy coat that comprised of hues such as olive green and light brown. 

The TV host completed his look by slipping into a pair of black shoes with chunky soles and placed a black hat on top of his head.

The Wiz is a musical that first debuted back in 1974 at the Morris A. Mechanic Theatre located in Baltimore, Maryland. 

The following year, the production won a total of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Score.

And 40 years after a revival in 1984, the show has once again been brought to the stage. Earlier this year, the hit musical was shown at the Pantages Theatre through March 3 in L.A. 

The show is a, 'twist on The Wizard of Oz' that 'changed the face of Broadway -from its iconic score packed with soul, gospel, rock, and finger-snapping 70s funk to its stirring tale of Dorothy's journey to find her place in a contemporary world.'

'Audiences get to enjoy the epic grooves of such beloved, timeless hits as "Ease On Down The Road," which became the show's break-out single, and the bona fide classic "Home" in this spectacular revival,' per an official synopsis.

Other stars were also seen during the opening night, including Tamron Hall who donned a long-sleeved, green patterned dress that fell down towards the ground. 

The upper portion contained a plunging neckline as well as a small cutout around the bodice. 

The hem of the ensemble partially covered the shoes that she paired with the dress, and the talk show host additionally accessorized her look with a pair of flashy, white earrings.

She also wore a variety of gold and turquoise bracelets on each of her wrists for a flashy flare. Her locks were parted in the middle, and effortlessly flowed down past her shoulders.  

Maya Bowles - who is part of the ensemble cast in The Wiz - wowed in a figure-hugging green dress with various cutouts. 

A thigh-high slit could be seen on the right side on the one-shoulder outfit which offered a sultry flare. 

The singer slipped into a pair of glittering, green pumps that were secured with thin straps that wrapped around her ankles. 

Bowles added a pair of dangly, green earrings while a bold, smoky shadow was done around her eyes. For a final touch, Maya wore a glossy, nude-colored tint on her lips.

Amber Ruffin - who is known for being a writer on Late Night With Seth Myers - donned a dark, emerald green dress that had long sleeves and a V-neck cut on the front. 

She wore a pair of open-toed, silver heels and easily carried a stylish, black purse to hold a few items she needed during the evening. 

Melody A. Betts - who took on the role of Aunt Em/Evillene - was radiant in a vibrant red gown that had sheer, glittering fabric as well as dramatic, off-the-shoulder sleeves at the top
